Bad injector/ smoking?
My 90 model has starting a smoking problem, Just sitting at idle white/blue smoke from the exhaust. Sometimes I can go drive and it stops, other times not smoking at all, then when it idles it starts smoking again. Not sure what the cause but it slowing down my hopes of spending money on a gear change! Any ideas?/

That does sound like an IP or injector issue. You don't have a lot of miles on your truck based on your signature information, probably got some water in your fuel at one point in time that must have made it past the separator into the IP and injectors.
Have you checked the inside bottom bowl of your Fuel filter/separator lately?. If it is all corroded than you probalby had some water to to the IP and injectors at some point.
New IP and injectors will run you less than $1,000. With that little miles on the truck it probably be worth it.
If you don't want to spent that kind of money then try some heavy doses of diesel additive for a few weeks and see if the problem clears by itself, you never know.
If the fuel filter/separator bowl above checked out clean, have you upgraded all your return lines and seal to make sure there is no air intrusion? Air in the fuel system will make the truck run rough, smoke but eventually clear up, only to return after the next coldstart once the air had a chance to seep back into the system.

My truck was smoking when at idle. Same color you descibed. I just took it in and had the IP timing checked and it was advanced 10 degrees. After having it set it doesn't do it anymore amd my EGT's have dropped aout 200 degrees at 70mph. Not saying it's our problems but might not hurt to have i checked.
