Sport Trac Potential Problems (Some advice please)
I am moving on from my 95 F-150 which has officially sucked more money out of me than it is worth any longer. I am now in the market for a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac (since I have another munchkin on the way). I have identified two and have test driven both of them. What I am hoping to get from you all is some potential problem areas I should look for (e.g. slam on the gas and see if it shifts hard into 2nd gear; or look for leaking oil around oil pan gasket).I am hoping to learn from some of your past experiences with this vehicle or one like it: 2004 Explorer Sport Trac 4x4, 4.0L V6, 5R55E Trans.Thank in advance!!Patrick

I just got my Sport Trac so I have nothing to report ..... hope I never will. I guess you'll just have to read through the thread topics and see what you find. There seems to be issues with the transmission "slipping" between gears, there's recalls and TSB's you can look through from the tabs at the top of the page, etc. Good luck with your hunt and congrats on the new munchkin!
