i have been cruisin the net tonight and i really cant find anything bad being said about the cooper stt's. i skipped class today and went up to farm and fleet and the guy said this spring they are gonna have the buy 3 get the 4th free deal again(seeins how i missed the xmas special). $220 a pop. the only thing i have heard is road noise and even that is suppose to be pretty decent, which i could care less about because my exhaust/radio drowns out my wild country's right now. the stt's look almost identical as the toyo's but a lot cheaper and have heard they last longer than the toyo's too.
so does anyone have anything bad to say about the stt's?
my old man has like 36' or 37' coopers on his power wagon, he is on his 4th set of tires since he has owned it. the 1st set were the toyos, said they were junk, he is getting like 10,000+ more miles out of the coopers
I've got a set of STT's on the bacl of my truck. Really impressed. No weight in the back of the truck and still lots of traction. Road noise is pretty reasonable.
My buddy has them on a 2006 f150 fx4 and they have been great for him. They are not all that noisy and do really good in the snow, and mud. Havent let him down yet and he has 15000 miles on them and they still look like new.
These tires are FLAT OUT AMAZING!!!! I saw half the truck go twice the places compared to the toyos. I will buy these tires for my next set. They clean very well, ride good. They only downfall is they make some noise going down the highway but to be honest I like tire noise! It's not loud at all but noticable. If you buy these tires you will not be disappointed
I have four 4x4's and I run the STT's on all of them. I haven't had anything else even compair...personally I wouldn't even consider anything else. I'm a Pipeliner/Equipment Operator and I see alot of off-road action at work ( steep hills & loose ground on right-of-ways), so far....never been stuck, and never had a flat.
This is good to know, I have been looking at them for awhile....
I have to say, I had the Goodyear MT/r's on my Excursion,,, 45000 miles and THEN I put them on my 99 SDuty for 5000 more.... when they were on the Ex, I got my SDuty stuck with a load of wet oak, put the Ex in 4 lo and had my wife steer my SD, nice grip and clean well, pulled out my big stuck pig! In defense, I did have the stock firestones off her Ex on my SD.
I gues my next tires will be STTs,,,,
Personally, I'm running the ST's myself. My boss travels 100 miles every day to work and back and 20 of those are a very, very rough road.
He's getting 40k on a set of ST's.
Another guy I know has the STT's and he's at 40k on them and they still look great! He's on pavement for the most part but that's amazing for such a gnarly tire. They have awesome traction.
On comparing them to a set of Super Swamper LTB's;
Swampers have insane amounts of traction.
BUT they're a very low mileage tire. We're talking maybe 15k?
The STT's have awesome traction, and they're high mileage.
For the average guy the STT will get you anywhere you want to go.
Personally I live in Bozeman, MT and everyone here 4-wheels.
I would say 50%+ of trucks in this town are running Cooper Discoverer S/T's
And about 15% run the STT's.
Buy Cooper and either rotate them all the time or never rotate them at all.
They're the best tire out there.
I would run the stt's over the ltb's mainly because it's alot nicer going down the road on radial tires and I've never seen radials CLEAN and DIG like these will!
ya i know a buddy of mine has the stt's on his duramax and he was pulling full chopper boxes and wagons and wasnt even spinning going up hill in mud. i was pretty impressed then and that was what got me thinking about putting em on my truck
I am running S/T's on mine, very pleased with the wear and traction.
The S/T is supposed to be a touch better on snow and ice than the STT and the STT has the edge in the mud.
Around here I have seen both, and they both get decent highway mileage.
