I have a Holley list NO.-6299, 390 CFM carb I got for cheep. There is no listing in my parts stores holley books for a 6299 power valve.
I have heard rumors that the 6299 used a "reversed" power valve, and the part is no longer a holley part.
Upon contacting holley tech help they said " engineering says to use the standard holley power valve", and that they no longer list any parts other than a rebuild kit for it.
Forget the rumours and do what holley suggests, their method is to find out what manifold vacuum you have idling in gear if an automatic tranny, divide in half and use that number for a power valve. So if you have 14 or so inches idling in gear, a 6.5 power valve should be just fine, maybe 7.5... if that does not work, maybe the carb has other problems so they sold it cheap..
wdfp, Have you delt with this carb? Im hoping its just like any other Holley. do you know if I can put the blowout protector in it. You've givin me the first postive news. Hope you can keep it coming.
The only reverse anything I am familiar with on holley carbs is an idle air mixture that was on some carbs that the screw turned opposite to lean and they had little stickers above the screws to tell you this, and I have not dealt with that carb particularly, just looked it up in the little book I have, so do it that way and keep it clean and hopefully it will work good for you..
