ok so i got me a 429 that i want to rebuild and put in my truck. this will be my first time to rebuild an engine so i really dont know alot. ok first off its going in a 59 f100 witch is a pretty light truck and i want it to be fast but also i will be driving it around town pretty regulary. i was just wanting some advise on what parts i should use. i dont want to spend a million dollars on it but i want to do it right and good were it will last and not give me problems. just wanting some tips on what i should do to it so it will be best for my truck. any help would be great.
Ford, Eldebrock and others are making aluminum heads for the 429 - not cheap but really take the weight off the front end and give you some good HP. You should look on e-bay as you will probably find some. Try here; ford 429 headsParts & Accessories, All matching items for sale.
If you go with cast iron heads the D0VE are considered the best.
Another way to rebuild is to look around for engine rebuilders and either have them do it or get one of their rebuilds. If you add everything up this generally is the cheaper way to go - not as much fun
