I don't know about the MT's, but I have the Toyo AT's, 285/75/16, and love them. I plow in the winter and they are the best tires I've used. I plowed a yard (3+ feet) out once with them. They are quiet on the highway, and tow well.

Just wondering, any of those kids that you were comparing to missing any digits???

Can you tell me more about the Toyo AT's? I can find MT's and M55 LT's, but no information on the AT's.

Oops...I see my error...I'm looking for a 255/85 not a 285. Really want the narrower tire.

the 255's are 33.6x10 to 34.5x10 depending on which brand/model you look at for specs

I'm running the Toyo M55's on the F350 (dually). Had to have load range E's for what I use it for. About 30k miles so far and appear about 50% worn - most miles are draggin' 10k 5ver, the rest are just 10k+ truck (I have a 200 gal fuel tank ) I'm predicting a few more miles than I got out of each of the last 2 sets of Yokohama Geolander AT's (40-50k miles). Not enough to justify the extra cost , but the 235's just look so puny I can never go back...

One M55 complaint, the center tread is not as deep as the outer 2/3rds - the centers will be smooth longe before the rest of the tread is gone... Other than that, they are a little noisy for AT's - but not loud by any means. Worked good in the snow, but they were still pretty new then. (btw, the Michelin LTX's currently on the Ex SUCK in the snow)

Seriously considering M55's for the Excursion (unless there is another 255/85/16 E-rated AT out there now).

I have a friend who runs the 255/85/16 Mud Brute on his 3/4 ton dodge welding truck. He loves them. Our Ex does 90% hwy driving (100 miles/day right now!!), not sure I could put up with MT's - but I really like that tire size! Those tires look great on your Ex, btw!

Maybe the kid will learn there's a LOT to learn when ya don't already know it all....

BUMP...
Any more out there?

I would like to see some Toyo MT or BFG KM2 255/85/16 mounted on a stock (suspension/wheels) Excursion. Would there be any rubbing issues if mounted to a stock Ex?

I wish they made more tires available in 255/85/16, its just about the perfect size tire for most everybody out there. Tall and skinny for better fuel econonmy, great in the snow. They would lack in mud with a deep bottom though.

This is what I want too, but I want them in a BFG AT or a Michelin LTX only.

Should be no issues with this tire on a stock X. This tire is the same height as a 285/75/16, but is a little narrower. (I use the 255/85/16 as a spare for my X w/285's since it fits in the spare tire space better than a 285)

I hope you get the Toyos MT b/c I would really like to see them mounted up on a stock Excursion.

I stopped in a local "discount" tire shop and they wanted $347.00 a tire (tire and installation) for the Toyo MT 255/85-16 ($1388)
The same shop wanted $269.00 a tire (tire and installation) for the BFG KM2 255/85-16 ($1076)

The stock 265/75-16 size were just as bad, give or take $50 on total price.

i got a quote of about 200 bucks less than yours. toyo's are high, and they are about the same for 305/70. i think like 50 bucks different. i like the look of the 305/70 but i am thinking the 255 may be better for daily use. idk. soon though. another month or so and i will be buying some. will post when i do.
