does anyone have 40 series FM's on a strait six. I currently have the gibson side swept and it is a lot quiter than i wanted. Barely louder than stock. Can anyone tell me how to make this thing rumble without sounding like an oversized honda?
I had a used 40 series put on my truck last weekend. It is very loud with a straight pipe. I hated the way it sounded with just the cat on it.
The muffler is so quiet at an idle that you can't hear it in the cab. Don't worry about the bumble bee sound, it's definitely not there!!! I took it past 4500 RPMs as soon as he let it off the lift, and it sounded great! I don't know why, but it sounds like an old mopar engine??? It sounds like a foreign V8 too I guess. Plus my 220,000 mile camshaft gives it a nice little 'lope' at idle. So to sum it up, I have a straight pipe, to a used 40 series one in, dual out, with both pipes exiting under my passenger side step. With 2.5" chrome tips ofcourse!
Total cost $125.00 would have been $105.00 with out the tips.
Good luck, have fun, don't go with glass packs!!! ;-)

More performance making the muffler and pipes 3 inch? If you just start after your cat with 3 inch and you have 2 inch coming off your manifolds then you aren't gaining any performance! You can't flow more than that 2 inch head pipe!!!
