backup lights

When backing my 5iver, they come on and blind me with the reflection. I looked at the owners manual for the fuse location and found if I remove the fuse for the backup lights it also disconnects the Reverse Sensing System. Is that just the system used to warn the driver their about to hit something while backing up? I'm I disconnecting something I need? I have 2008 F250. Thanks

Yes, they do have a reverse sensing system on some of their vehicles with a little warning speaker mounted somewhere in the cab. If you have a auto darkening mirror, it's going to stay dark also, instead of reverting to clear when you are in reverse.

Why don't you pull the bulbs and see if you can get a lower wattage bulb for them. Or tape some paper or white plastic over the clear part of the lense on the inside, to dampen the light output.

Dave, thanks for the quick responce. I don't think any wattage bulb will help. I don't have the warning system so I should be OK pulling the fuse.
