IF you've got the horses (and that's amighty big "if"), the 2.79/2.75 rear ratio is just about perfect for freeway driving or a long trip. Never with a flathead - you'd never get started on a hill.
I can't imagine driving more than about 30 minutes at 55 and 3000rpm (actually I can't imagine driving 55 for 30 minutes at ANY rpm - tee hee)

I'm about 3 hours west of you.I live in Hudson , about 15 minutes from I-40.Hudson is north of Hickory near hwy 321.If you are ever traveling I-40 on Friday evening ,near exit # 112 on 113 stop in Valdese at Myra's soda shop. There is a cruise in going on every Friday evening from about 5 pm until well after dark .They have live music and a 50/50 drawing every Friday night from April through October , weather permitting.
