Hello again all,
The exploder is still driving awful, and as i was working on checking the plugs last night, i took a peek inside the butterfly valve in the throttle body. I saw all kinds of nasty in there, black gunk. i scraped out a sample with a screwdriver, its oily, its gritty and it burns and melts.
How can i get that manifold off so that i can brush out that gunk and run some solvent through it?
Also, will i need a new gasket?
Its a 1996 4.0 liter XLT explorer.
if you can use pictures, diagrams, anything, that would be awesome.
I wouldn't worry about pulling the intake until you diag your misfire. The upper intake o-rings do go bad on these engines but usually dont cause much of a running problem. they normally cause p0171 p0174 codes.
