vss?
i did a search and found that when an e40d has a hard shift from 2-3 it's most likely the vss. i'm just trying to confirm before buying the part. when i hit 40-45mph my tach goes up to about 3000 then it will shift real hard so is this the vss causing this or something different. i've pulled codes and have 1 egr code and a shift error code

I had/have the same problem ('93 in my signature), and parked my truck as a result. The tranny shop (very reputable locally) told me that I would need at minimum a new torque converter and fluid pump. They also strongly suggested that the solenoid pack be replaced, but that they would much prefer to do a total rebuild, to the tune of ~$2500. I'm going to stick with dropping the tranny and doing the torque converter and pump myself once I get the chance.

not the kind of news i was looking for but with my luck that will be what i need i have a friend who's dad owns a tranny shop i might take to him to see if it's the same problem. thanks for the help
