I'd like some feedback from those of you who have some personal experience with headers for '88+ EFI 460's. I've been looking around for opinions on different brands and types of headers. Those that I know of for EFI 460's so far are- MAC, Thorley, Heddman, and L&L. How was installation, quality, any power increases, any mileage increases, etc...
Thanks,
Dustin Siebert

I installed the Banks Power-Pack last year on my '88 F-250 460. Good improvement in power (haven't measured it, but it's obvious), the mountain passes in my area are now easier with a 9-1/2' camper, mileage stayed about the same, under hood temperature went down by at least 50°F possibly more. An expensive proposition, about $1700 for the headers only, but excellent construction, excellent fit, easy (relatively) installation, and good warranty, all in all, an excellent quality product.
Dustin, I have a set of Borla stainless steel headers on my EFI460,and they've worked well for me. They've been on the 460 since March 1996,and since then I've only retightened the bolts twice and replaced two header gaskets. They are a 4into1 header. Some say 3into1 headers give more torque(which is true...),but once I put dual exhaust on the 460 then the Borla's really made the EFI460 come alive. Hope this helps.
I recently bought my 1989 F250 w/460 and it has 112,00mi. I think it was used primarily for towing but it is bone stock. I want to pump it up a little but am curious whats the best "bang for my buck". I have heard exhaust systems, air intakes, chips, all of that sounds great but on my budget it will have to come one at a time. Any suggestions on where th start?
i think banks actually has numbers on the website for the 460 "Package". My friends dad did the whole deal on a RV and he said it was really noticable. Its hard to believe ford left so much power bottled up in the 460 back in the 80s and 90s. if you go with the full blown power pack 68 hp and nearly 100ftlbs doesnt seem to bad for the money its were it should have been to start with.
