If i try to pull my trailer with my cutlass (5000 -6000 lbs)on it, It really strains. My 86 ford with the straight 6 pulled better. I have a CAI and the edge with the latest down load. I have the ext. warrenty 4 year 100,000. So i cant change the rear gear, plus it is my daily driver too and It would kill me in MPG. with the abouve helps I still get only about 17mpg. My wife doesnt like the 2009 F150 as much as my 2007 baody style.
So I am stuck... I got honest with the wife and said I just want a bigger motor and I was reminded we just paid it off.
Any help??????
I don't know why you couldn't change your rear gearing if you wanted to go that route. How do you figure it would void your warranty? 4.10s were offered in the F-150.
Yea, I already asked and they told me at the dealer that it would void the warrenty due to it no longer being stock. I know they mainly mean the rear end but the service manager told me they might try to used it against me on other things such as tranny and motor issues. I had the same problem on my mustang, if I had them change my springs
If the 4.10 was offered with the engine and tranny pkg. you have there would be very little chance of the warranty on them being voided. If you have a Ford dealer do the change then you have backup. Maybe a wheel size change to effectively change the axle ratio? Keep a set of wheels and tires for the tow runs. Try here; http://www.chrismans.com/Calculators.html
