First, just want to say hi and I am new to the site. Hope to be an active contributing member.
Now to the problem at hand... I am crossing my fingers that you guys might have an answer to help me...
Last night I was traveling down a snow packed road when I decided I had enough so I slowed down to about 5 miles and engaged the A4WD. The second I engaged the switch on dash I heard a loud clunk. I came to a complete stop and disengaged the switch. I heard the relays in the dash going nuts waited for them to stop and began down the road. Immediately it felt as if was locked in 4 Low. I crept the about a quarter mile to a place I could pull off and look at things. In the parking lot it became evident that something was off because when I turned it had the tell tell sign of 4 wheel drive turning creep. I worked the switch/shut off the truck/let it idle for an hour/ backup 50 feet.... the usual steps for anyone with electronic 4 wheel drive.
I left it set over night and came back today, I got the 4 wheel drive to finally switch back to 2 wheel drive. The 4 Low feeling still is evident though. I can't drive over 25 mph and it shifts only if I let off the throttle. I don't know what else to do at this point.
Hey there, and welcome to the site. First have you tried the all mighty tap tap tap on the shift motor on the transfer case yet? Try that just to get you back home. Are all four tires the same size? It sounds like something is binding up in there. Im sure someone on here will be able to better help. Good luck, keep us posted!
Yea, I tapped on the motor to get it switched back in to 2 HI. Its like the hubs or center lock is still engaged... I am confused about it at this point.
My wife had the same thing happen to her the other day. She was pulling out of a parking lot and it went into 4 low. Did you ever figure it out? Did disconnecting the battery work? I appreciate it!!!
