Small update.
2" leveling kit, new struts w/ springs & rear shocks (KYB all around). New brakes (Calihan full kit D&S rotors - Very good quality and very good price). New rims, same offset and size (+24, 18x9). I went cheap on the intake and got a Spectre... no issues, does the job. I think that is is for now. I will admit they are not the rims I originally wanted, but with a military discount and on sale I got them for a good deal and was able to put them on Les Shcwab credit with 0%, so I saved a bit instead of forking out the $800 for ones I had planned. They are really open, and hard AF to clean, but they look good. Some little stuff I have done since buying the truck, aside from the REMAN swap and other engine components (goodbye $4k), is flush all fluids - every single one. Hardest one was the front dif, because I did remove the diff cover. Not fun. The coolant was also a PITA because you have to go through the res, and remove the bottom hose to get a full flush. I also swapped every bulb over to LED's. Even dash bulbs. Every. Single. One. 90% of the bulb housings from the bigger bulbs were burnt and scary AF looking. I did buy a new 3rd brake light all together because of this issue, and used some capacitors (I think thats what they are called) for the LED swap because I ran into an issue with LED's tripping the cruise control and not working. Stupid FORD... why would you disable Cruise control when your 3rd brake light it out? How about just an indicator light in the form of a light bulb... geniuses. Also dumped the exhaust when I did my manifolds. I skipped them when putting the reman in, and what a mistake that was... First the exhaust rusted clean off at the muffler and fell off - IN TRAFFIC - then came the exhaust leak at the manifolds. So, I went manifolds all the way back and new O2's/cats as well. Sounds beefy, but not obnoxious like most these straight fart pipes everyone uses. Single chamber muffler.
Next on the to do list is removing the shiny crap from the panels of the truck. Not sure what idiot did them, but they were meant for a truck with OEM fender flares... so they spaced them out to fit. Not only that, but they are beat up and ugly. So they are coming off this weekend. I got the hot air gun and a couple 3m adhesive remover wheels along with a lot of beer to tackle the job.
Then I can add OEM fender flares (black), My running boards (4" flat, black), new wheel well liners (front and back), replace those crappy exterior window visors that don't hardly work with in the window kind that cover everything and give you more than 1/2" of space to roll down, a hood bug deflector, and a tonneau cover. Possibly new mirrors (tow kinds), and OEM mud flaps.
Another thing that I find should be mandatory in America now days, is a dash cam. People around my area in Montana drive like MORONS. I have driven all over europe, iraq, afghanistan, and all over the US.... these podunk idiots take the cake. So I am getting a dash cam after all that stuff gets installed. I found one that is very nice and has a motion sensor to turn on when someone is loitering around your vehicle. If it kills my battery, I won't use it, but I do want to try it.
Thanks for looking!
