I can't speak from experience yet, but all the research I did has led me to get a SMF for the ZF 5 I just bought last week. After reading all the posts about the DMF, I decided that I didn't want to go with one. I've also never heard anything bad about Luk. Unfortunately, I couldn't swing a Luk right now. I would have gone with it if I could have. Also, I've also heard that it's a VERY good idea to go with a kevlar pilot bushing. I found THIS page, with Luk parts. I'll be ordering the kevlar bushing from them.
so im still looking for a clutch yet my question is if i didnt go with neither Luk or the south bend clutch what other companys out their offer a clutch in the SMF ?
i went with a southbend clutch but thats just because my buddy owns a diesel performance shop and he is a dealer for southbend. I dont know if any company is better than the other.
As far as fit and function go, the Luk kit works well. The downside is that with the ZF, they tend to make a vibration noise at idle that sounds like something is coming apart... Some have had some success with heavier oil, like 30w and overfilling.
