How hard would it be for me to rebuild a M5R2 transmition? If i couldn't do it who would be the best people to bring it to?(I live in Fargo, ND and need something relatively close by.) What would it roughly cost for someone else to build it? Also could i hook up a gear driven transfercase to it (ex. NP205)? Is there any that would fit w/o addaptin too much stuff?
You need a few tools inorder to remove/pull the old bearings to replace them. I tried it with out the tools once, it was a no go. Can't help on who to send it to.
The 205 will bolt right up to the mazda full tranny but you need to fab up the 205 shifter mount and or road length to get the shifter to work. I've mounted a 205 to a Zf before and all I had to do was shorten the shifter rod by 1 inch and notch the back of the t-case adaprt flange for the shifter rod clearence. this may be the same on the mazda trans, not sure. I have a 205 and a 4x4 mazda trans in the garage but have yet to slap them together.
