Yeah. It's time to start shaking the world with more then just my big grips and heavy engine! The sound system will commence in approximately 2 weeks. Well, once everything gets ordered and shipped. So I plan to strip and gut the entire cab and the following is going in.
Going to deaden the entire cab including floor, back wall, firewall, doors, A/B/C pillars, and maybe roof (contemplating). Using RAAMmat from Rick @ RAAMaudio. He hooked me up with a great deal. I'll be doing double layers in certain areas consisting of mat/foam/mat/foam.
I'm installing;
Pioneer AVH-P6000DVD (upgraded model to my P6800DVD that allows MP3 via DVD instead of CDR)
Magellan GPS (Still in discussion)
(4) Elemental Design 11kv.2 10" Subwoofers
Elemental Design NiNE.1 1200w Amp
Elemental Design i3.65 6.5" Full Range Speakers in all four doors with cross overs
Elemental Design NiNE.4 @ 65w per channel Amp
I'm getting my box built by a buddy who built TNT In Round Rock's box that fit perfect behind his rear seat. Then of course all the wiring etc. I'll be taking my time and putting everything under the carpet. Power leads will be ran through a hole in the floor and down the chassis up to the batteries. Only wires actually in the cab going to the front will be speaker and RCA. Amps and cross over boxes will be installed under rear seat with distro/fused blocks for power routing.
Also I'm buying an OEM-like molded black carpet from Stock Interiors to put in. Then this summer I will be getting the seats redone to be black with gray center stripe like TNT's seats. I'm going for a Black/Gray interior scheme with Black being a semi-accent to it. Of course the new hood will get ordered.
In all this is running me $2500 in parts. I had helluva time decided whether I wanted the sound or replace the hood and some other things. I elected Sound because I've been wanting it for a year now, I just got sidetracked with things.
So that's the latest! I'll try to take as many photo's as I can. I'll start on Friday morning and hopefully be finished by Sunday night. The rednecks won't be together on this piece. It's all me Unless I fubar something and I have to call TNT to save my life LOL.
Way to go storm, I'd like to see pics when you get it going. I've got amps/distro boxes under my rear seats and the probox audio 10" behind with component setups in the doors and pillars. I'm impressed with mine and sounds like you'll be one upping me, so cant wait to see what you got going on!
Storm:
I have seen many of your posts. But to put that much more money in your truck, from your Profile a few year old, did you consider buying a new truck with the Audiophile radio system with the sub woofer included? I only ask, because if we should ever meet at a red light, I WILL win and blow out one of your ear drums! Only reason I know, is that I already have a 90% hearing loss in one of my ears! Good luck in your installation. The factory stuff is pretty awesome. I have still yet to crank it all the way. Need to remember to take cotton for good ear.
A friend of mine over the past 20 years always had an amazing setup in his car, and his house. Always liked to turn it up so high (especially in the car) it would make me nauseous.
He now has tinnitus (ringing in his ears) so bad he can no longer enjoy the music, much less sleep at night.
While I wouldn't mind a little better sound, and a little richer bass, you won't find me putting a setup like that anywhere near my head
Sounds like it's going to be a nice and tight system. I have always been a fan of a tight sounding system, not necessarily the loudest. I just don't have the patience to strip my truck down to dampen it. Looking forward to some pics.

You may blast audio but I doubt you'll keep up with me in speed Especially come this summer when I make the trip to Maryland to see Eric @ Innovative. LOL. I have no intention of buying a new truck. Don't really care for the look of the 08 let alone the engine. I'm content with the beast. Probably ride it til she blows up or catches fire, even then I may just dust it off and roll burned LOL.
Audiophile is making a helluva market in OEM setups. I got another car with a similar setup and it's just awesome.

It's not so much for "loudness" as it is for good sound.
No wonder why the youth don't respond to what we elders are saying!
They are deaf!!
Sounds like an interesting project, take pics and post as you go along.
Doing all that work and having that much "raw" area exposed is likely to help someone in an unrelated project!

No kidding! What is it with children and not listening to us? Drives me up a wall.
I will try to get as many pictures as I can. It's going to be a long process and an annoying one at that. A lot of stuff to do in a short period of time. May just have to designate someone as picture taker LOL.
Storm, sounds like a great system. I too have some hearing loss due to working in power plants all my adult life. Since I can't hear that well I figure there's no need for a better sound system, I rarely ever use the OEM one as it is...
BTW, nice to see you back around. I have not seen you here in a while, partly because I have not been here to much of late, either.
