Diesel engine preference
I crashed my 2001 F250 two days ago (7.3l). I figure the insurance co will total it out.
So here's my question:
I heard that the early 6.0l diesels had issues. I'm wondering if there are models to steer clear of as far as the 6.0 and 6.4 liter engines.
Also what kind of milage do people see on F250s with these engines?
My Old beast was getting 20 mpg in the warmer months and 18-19mpg cold months. Its a 4x4 with extended cab and short box.
this will help in shopping for a new truck.

The best ones are '05-'07. That also gets you the newer interior and coil springs up front for a better ride and turning radius.
Lots of '03-'04 motors are fine too, but overall I personally would hold out for nothing less than an '05. Either way, be sure to get an Oasis report before buying.
