I just got a 77 f 250. It has an I-6, but i don't know which one it is. How can I find out.
I also have a 351w to put in it. Would that be a good easy swap ?

 

Welcome js, have a look around there is lots of info and knowledgeable people here to help answer any questions you may have. To answer your questions the motor in truck would be a 300 if it is original. As for the swap I am not sure but you would have to change and move the motor mounts and I think you would have to change the bell housing also. As for the rest I am not sure. Someone else that knows more than me will be around to help you out.

 

It wouldn't be an easy swap because 351W's were not available in 1973-79 F-series, so motor mounts are not readily available. It'd be a custom job. Welcome to FTE.

 

The motor I am getting to swap is out of 75 f-250 from the original owner. He must be mistaken on what the motor is.

 

I know it's a v8. I havn't seen it yet.
