I am running glasspacks right now but they sound kinda wierd. My friend has glasspacks on his chevy truck which is an older truck and his exhaust sounds really deep. My truck is a 95 with a 302 and sounds like it has a more higher pitch then his. Could it be that his truck is older and the glasspacks are more burnt out because mine are brand new.and i dont have any cats on it or is it my motor is newer.when my glasspacks get burnt out will it have the deeper tone.will flowmaster one chambers get me a real deep tone. His might sound better but i can still waist his 350 in a drag race and at fourwheeling,go figure.
do you have true duals? also the length of the glasspack makes all the difference, the longer, the more mellow and deep, he probably has longer packs than you, also he could have an h pipe of some sort to blend the sounds together, which makes the tone smoother and deeper
Do not take this as pure fact just my opinion. I have noticed that a smaller displacment that revs quicker / shorter stroke has a slightly higher/ louder pitch. I also think the age of your friends exhaust probably has a lot to do with it. Just a thought try dynomax they are cheaper than flowmaster and have a nice sound, kind of a deep yet powerful tone, much like a muffled cherry bomb/ glasspack. I heard these on a BB and was very impressed. Get the longest they have and go with a 3" pipe out the back, the 3" pipe will make it slightly deeper also. Good luck
I have glasspacks and true duals and my truck sounds great. I have a friend that drives a Ch##y and he is jealous. You can hear me comming down the block but it isn't so loud its obnoxious. With the windows up it is relativaly quiet. It does have a slight raspy sound to it at low rpm's around town. Like around 1200-1400rpm.
