If you have your master cylinder in a bench vise and you are trying to bleed it prior to installation on your truck and you can push the piston in with your finger then you are one pretty strong dude. There is a fairly hefty spring on the other end of the piston that returns the piston when you take your foot off of the brake pedal. Normally I use a phillips screwdriver and then lean into it to bench bleed a new MC.

Is this dry or with fluid in it? You should have to push pretty hard to make it stroke 3/4 " to 1" when you are bench bleeding it until all the air is out and then you shouldn't be able to push it more than 1/8" If it is dry it's a lot easier to push, but you shouldn't really do it when it's dry anyway. Hard on the seals.
