ac bypass

wondering if anyone has put a smaller belt to bypass the ac on the v-10s if that added any mpgs or hp if much. was thinking about doing that to this one.

I don’t think you will find any improvement in MPG and or power by simply bypassing the A/C compressor. As long as the A/C is not turned on there shouldn’t be much if any parasitic drag.

jonrjen is right, the AC clutch disconnects the AC compressor totally. Unless, of course, you are using the defroster, then the AC cycles.

If you want to try turning it off because of it cycling, just disconnect the two-wire connector going to the AC compressor.

Otherwise, it's the same thing as an idler or tensioner pully. And you already have two of those on there

Krewat is correct. Some years ago you could get and install a small vacuum switch that would open when you went to full throttle and disconnect the compressor, and when you let off, it would restart the compressor if its turned on. You would pick up about 10 hp by turning it off. Maybe enough to notice.

How many times have we heard Superduty owners asking why the AC blows warm after they pull a hill with a 10K trailer behind them?
