Soot/blackness left on wall

Hey,
I have an '84 F150 I6 300, 4x4, wiht a carb. Well, In the mornings, or whenever the truck has been sitting for a good number of hours, when I start it up, a few minutes later, I'll get a spray on the concrete, or a big black circle on the carport wall where the exhast pipe is, for some reason, soot, or something like that is getting shot out of there. Its kinda annoying, not really hard to clean, but, its shouldnt be doing that. Any ideas, help, sugestiongs?
Thanks
Eric

Soot/blackness left on wall

Its somewhat normal. When the engine is cold, the choke causes the engine to run rich until it warms up. A rich mixture causes black smoke.
