....that a guy who put a Flowmaster 40 series muffler (single in, duel out) was utterly dissapointed with the way it sounded on his 93 F-150 w/302. Doesn't sound much better than stock!! Is it possible to punch out the back cat without removing the whole darn exhaust system from the manifolds? Will this screw up the computer part somehow? How would you get all the shattered pieces out? Will they blow out? Maybe next summer this guy cold afford a free-flow but he wants to be sure it'll sound good before he invets the money. Just supposing.....
We'll just suppose somebody made an expansion chamber out of their convertor in a Ranger. What may have been done is the convertor was removed, all the guts knocked out of it taking due care to avoid the air injection tube, this was most likely done using a hammer and large screwdriver. However this must have been a carbed vehical (not sure what would happen on a F.I. rig) it sure did sound a lot better (as much as a 4 banger can) as well as ran a whole bunch better down low in the rev range, if that's what really happened?;-)
Hey,
When I knocked out the rear cat on my 300 I6 it made all the difference inb the sound of it. You don't have to take it off to knock it out. I used a steel rod and a coat hanger to take it out
I might have personally known someone who might have accidentally done this on a 1991 chevy 454ss. i can tell you that after the "accident" occured he was very happy with the results. it sounded and ran better. really made the dual flowmaster 40 series sound great. too bad i forgot his name after he sold the truck, that guy should really be punished. haha
