Exhaust system flow

I have a question for all ya'll ole' exhaust guro geezers :P out there. I have a 300ci I-6 with a single outlet header on there. I ran a 3 inch pipe from the header and after the converter, I put a Y pipe and ran 2.5 duels out through the back, each with a muffler. A guy I know said that if I ran a single 3 inch pipe out the side, it would flow better. I really disagree. I say that dummy duels woould flow better because even though it's coming from a single pipe, it still has more room to flow. Any opinions?????

i dont think it makes a difference since it all has tot go through the catty, i doubt you could tell a power difference between a single 3 inch, no pipe after the cat, are dual 2.5's, or even dual 2 inchers after the cat
