My ABS light came on the other day when i went out and started my truck the other day. Its been doing this intermittently for about a month. (This is on my 95 f150 that ive slowly been working on this winter) I have a couple questions...will this cause a loss of brake pedal? Id like to make sure before i start going thru the whole bleed/replace process. I was looking in my Haynes and it says it consists of the RAB computer and a HCV that will dump fluid during operation into some type of reservoir? ( I think thats what it said anyways lol) Any of you guys ever had any RABS problems and what is the primary thing to look for that might be bad?

couple of friends of mine were arguing over who had the best winch...Chevy owner says his Superwinch is better than the Dodge owners Warn..they asked me what type of winch I had..I told them I dont have a winch I have a Ford....JIM
As long as there is not a fluid leak, the braking system will function without ABS when the light is on, without any loss of pedal. There is a small accumulator in the RABS valve which is used as a pressure dump to release line pressure. When the brake pedal is released, this fluid should return to the brake system.
There should be a black wire with an orange tracer near the firewall, forward of the parking brake pedal. This is the diagnostic wire, which when momentarily grounded with the ABS light on will cause the ABS computer to blink out trouble codes. The most common sources for the ABS light are the brake light fuse (normally not an intermittent light), the rear wheelspeed sensor, and the brake fluid reservoir switch, but it could be something else entirely.
