Perplexing Oil Leak

Having spent the last few months working on the exterior of my recently purchased 1985 F250, I figure it is now time to solve the oil leak problem (300CID, IL6). After having read some FTE threads and taking it to a mechanic, it seemed most likely to be the oil pan gasket. But, replacing the oil pan gasket might be tough for a novice like me (e.g., raising the engine, etc.). So, I had a mechanic replace the oil pan gasket and, while he was at it, the valve cover gasket and the PCV. It looked ok for a day, and then I noticed it starting to leak again, albeit less. I took it back and they tightened the bolts and checked the oil sensor for leaks too. Unfortunately, there are still some drops of oil. I'm perplexed. Any ideas?

Did they clean the engine off well after replacing the gaskets? there might be residual oil from when it used to leak. If not, look from the front of the motor to the back, because the fan will blow oil back while running making it look like its coming from the rear when the source is in the front of the motor. Also, make sure your oil filter is tight and you didnt double up the o rings.

May be dumb but ill suggest it anyways. For two weeks my truck would continually leave me stranded by spitting out all of its oil. I checked EVERYTHING (at least I thought i did), replaced valve cover gaskets, etc. I finally thought I had it fixed, for it did not leak in the driveway anymore. I took it back out on its first road trip, and stopped at the gas station. I pumped my gas, went in to pay, and guess what. all my oil was on the ground again! So I had it towed home, and the process started all over again. Then it dawned on me, I should check the oil filter. It was a newer filter because i had just changed it not more than a month before. Well, as it turns out, the oil filter had a super thin crack it in invisible to the eye. It would only leak once it was warmed up and had pressure, which is why it never leaked in my driveway. I never let it run long enough in my driveway So, $2.99 later, my truck was back to normal. Well, that figure is minus all of the lost oil, valve cover gaskets+my time in 0* weather, and two tows (AAA loved me that week). Needless to say check the simple stuff first, I wish I had. Good luck!
