MPG after cat removal?
1. Did I dream this or did I actually see a couple posts where folks MPG actually dropped after removing a rear cat? I don't really see how it could, but then again we're dealing with computers and sensors and such...
2. Are shorty headers worth the time/money/effort? My 93 F-150 302 E4OD does mostly basic transportation duty, mild to moderate 4-wheeling , and occasional towing of a 1500 lbs. boat. I already have a Flowmaster cat-back system. Would the shorters give me anything I ain't already got?
Thanks
2. I guess it really depends how much you want those 10-15 HP, remember HP, not torque, but as for installing them i never thought it was all that bad of deal pretty easy to get in there, and of corse there about 10x easier than full length headers.
hope this helped

(2) I read in a 4X4 mag that shorty headers didn't provide the bang for the buck...especially at low-to-midling RPMS. A local drag-racing guru that seems to know his stuff pretty much confirmed that. The only reason I was considering shorties is so that I would not have to re-engineer my whole exhaust system. Not that big a deal I know, but it would involve going back to the exhaust shop vs. doing it all my self. Thanks for the input though!!
