I am going to have my truck painted probably next month, and I have a door with the keypad in it. My door has some rust on the bottom and I figure it will be better to have another door put on it. My question is, will I be able to get the keyless entry to work on mine since it didn't come out with it from the factory? Or should I just have the rust fixed and hope it doesn't decide to come back on me again....Whats everyone's opinion on this....Thanks
If your truck came with keyless entry, the door pad should be able to be programmed to work with your locks. I added a wireless door keypad from Ford to my wife's 01 and it works like a charm.
I added the wireless keypad to mine as well, but i don't know if the wired ones would work or not. I can't really help, so this is just a bump I suppose.
If its the factory wired keypad, it should work fine. The module isnt located in the door I dont think. Im pretty sure its in the kickpanel.
Also, if you have the rust fixed the right way, there should be no reason for it to return. If I were you, Id just have the rust taken care of instead of buying a whole new door.
I'm just finally getting the bedside fixed, and going to have the whole truck painted back black. It depends on what the price they give me today, but I would like to have two tone black and silver or something like that. Not sure. I have to have a windshield put in also, its got a few rock chips in it.
Scott you have to go two tone if you can afford it that will look really good that or black and gold looks great as well. Didn't notice that your windshield was chipped.
