I did not see the "law" but what he said made some sense and i lost interest. He said that if you are going down the highway and a piece of trash or debris came up and severed a line then there would be no steering to control the truck. IDK made sense at the time.......

ah ok that makes sense but the same can be said about brake lines on how they run down the frame rail ect ect.
Anywho did you do anything about the stock stering setup?
I replaced my tie rod ends and my steering got better, put a new steering box right before christmas and it steers like a new truck. Its also cheaper and easier than a hydro setup.

Then I wil do just that! I was always under the adumption that these trucks had that play in it but I guess I was just misinformed.
There will always be a little play, this is not a rack and pinion set-up after all, but with a nice new set of tie-rod ends and a good rebuilt box there will only be a fraction of the play produced by worn out steering components.
I got my tie rod ends and box at NAPA, the prices are reasonable and the parts are of high quality.
