Transmission Shift Boot...Help !
Transmission Shift Boot...Help !
Does anyone know where I can find a transmission shift boot for my 63 with a four speed manuel? I purchased one from BlueOval but it does not seal to the floor, it covers were that stick enters the trans. I still have a huge hole in the trans cover area. Here is a link to the part that I already purchased.

The bottom diameter is 5 inches, height is about 4 inches and I have no idea how many folds, I dont have the original boot. ( there was a huge piece of **** carpeting stuffed in there when i got the truck...LOL ! )
It has the base, two folds and then the snout where the shift lever goes through it. Here is a link to Blueovals web page with the part on it shift-lever-boot-4spd-od
1961/65's with a Warner T98 4 speed do not use a shift boot.
There is no part number listed in the parts catalog or shown in the illustration (Don: Section 72, page 53-1957/63 catalog).
The one Blue Oval sells is for a 1965/79 New Process 435 4 speed and will not work on a T98.

Was it just left open then? You wouldnt beleive the crap that flies up through there while driving right now.

Not sure if answers the question, but with my T18 4 speed the boot came with a retaining ring. Periodically hose it down with 'tirecare' wipe off and good for another 100,000. The boot has a base the retaining ring sets onto and the ring is secured to the transmission tunnel. Would think the ring would be easy to fabricate.
