Help with ticking noise

<HR style="COLOR: #ffffff; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Hello, My truck is an 08 5.4 with only 2700 miles. I get a loud ticking when I first start the truck up. This is loud and can be heard inside the cab but standing outside it is very loud. As it warms up during idle the ticking seems to quiet down than go away. If I give it gas after it is warmed up at idle I can hear it tick a few times after it drops in rpms than it stops. Dont know if it is cold weather related. I was just out there this morning to see if I could isolate where it is coming from. It seems to be coming from the passenger side in front of engine but its hard to isolate it exactly. Hopefully it is not something really bad. I know my engine was built in 8-07 and there is a problem with some of the 07's where the motor had to be replaced due to a faulty part inside that caused a ticking sound.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

sounds like the cam phasers... fixable under warranty, poor part is replaced with better part... good luck.

Mine was build 2/08 and mines ticking I think its injectors.If I open the hood and listen it sounds like its going around the engine chasing the fireing order.It just started doing it dont know if its cold related or not.Dont see how it could be unless its winter gas.

I had the same ticking noise in my 2004 5.4, but it was constant. Had both cylinder heads replaced. First time I started it after bringing it home from the shop, it ticked even louder while warming up, then stopped ticking when it idled back down. Have let it sit overnight a couple times and now when I start her up, no ticking at all. strange, but keeping an eye on it. good luck.
