Arrow Need help maybe trading

Well I have been a ford guy all my life. raging from Mustangs to Trucks which i now currently drive a 2006 ford F150 4x4, 4 door, v8 4.6 lit, with leveling kit and 33inch tires.

Im Maybe looking at trading that in and testing the waters on a New jeep Rubicon. I have always wanted a jeep but never really dove in. My only down sites is the space that i am gong to be loosing. Which in my case since i have a four wheeler and motorcycle i would have to get a trailer for alittle light hauling.
I know that ill get a little more gas milage and the top down doors off is alittle extra to throw in there. When i get and or see the chance i now take my F150 off road and time i can.

My questions are would it be worth loosing the space? Is the gas all that better with the jeep? I drove a jeep back in 2003 and the ride was alittle rough but seeing as how i did some mods to my truck and lost some smoothness i cant see all that difference. If there are any pre or post jeep owners out there can i get a little info? also what do ya'll think would be a good step in taking?`
Thanks

I'm debating the move myself. I have a Ranger, and I love it. However, I've always wanted a Jeep too. Unfortunately, I don't have the space for 3 vehicles, so I have to decide if I want the utility of a truck, or the "fun factor" of a Jeep. Or if I get a 4x4 Ranger. Space will be a deciding factor for me. Eventually I will need a crew cab truck. I'm already resigned to the fact that a Super Duty won't fit in my garage. An extended cab Ranger does fit, but a baby seat won't fit in a Ranger where I want it to. And a Jeep won't haul much without a trailer, which I also don't have room for.

We'll see, I guess.

i know your feeling. I also looked into the jeeps and just got done test driving one which was great but that space. I am going to miss it. I know i can get a trailer but its also not as easy as just throwing things in the back.
V8 4.6L F150 vs. V6 3.8L Rubicon
is also another factor i am looking into.

I bought a Wrangler. New in 2000. I do enjoy it but not as much as I had hoped. It is small inside, I took the back seat out so I could carry more tools etc. The gas milage is nothing to brag about. I live a 6,500 ft elevation, and do mostly mountain driving and I get 16-17 mpg with the inline six. It's not very good on the highway because it is noisey and the short wheelbase means it is not a cruiser. So I still need my F150.

i knew the gas would not be much to brag about. I think i might try to find a jeep renter and try it out for a few days. From the looks of the way its going, All in all its not going to win me over my ford.

bigrigfixer,
I just got done reading that if you can hold off buying a jeep. That phoenix engine started making a new motor for jeep in 2007 and should be out around 2010. They are coming out with v6 4.0L. right now the stanard wrangler has a 3.8L V6 which puts out 202 horsepower and the phoenix's 3.6L v6 puts out 280 horse. So i would be suprised on what the new 4.0L is going to put out in the wranglers when they do come out with it. Hopeing that we will get to see it in 2010.
