Battery light always on?
Had some weirdness with my '01 F150 (4.2, M5OD, 2wd) today. When I first started it, it ran ROUGH and the "Service Engine" light came on. I shut it down and started it up again and things smoothed out. But, it had entered three codes into memory: Miss Cyl 1, Miss Cyl 3 and Lean on Bank 2 (IIRC).
As it was running fine after that, I erased the codes to see if they'd show up again and they haven't.
I drove it several times today for a total of maybe 50 miles. The last time I started it up, the battery light came on and stayed lit. And now it's always lit.
My manual only lists a bad Alternator, fault in alternator circuit, or loose belt as possible causes.
Would I be right to assume that I need to swap in a new alternator first and see if that fixes it?
Would I also be right to assume that a 4.2L manual tranny truck with no power ANYTHING probably just needs the 95A unit?
Thanks!
