I have a 1986 302 efi 4x4 xlt truck, and i got it running. It will crank up every time, but when i crank it up, it runs at about 1100 rpms, it wont ever drop down. When i put it in gear, it drops down to about 600 rpms or so, like its supposed to. When i put it back in park, it goes back up to 1100 or so again. Any ideas with that? what do i check for. I have checked all the vacuum lines and all of them seem to be fine.
My next problem, does anybody have a wiring diagram for the 2 relays on the driver side fender? somebody has cut both of them off, and spliced in new relay bases, one new relay and one is still a ford relay, but they are both on new bases. When you turn the truck off, the fuel pump does not kick off, it keeps running. I just need to know what wires in the harness are supposed to feed the coil, what's supposed to be common and N/O and N/C contacts. Any input on that would be great, right now i just have a manual switch connected to turn the pump on and off. Thanks!
I agree, pull the codes. They have cheap readers at Autozone, and if you got a friend there, they will pull your codes for free. I know they do it on newer vehicles anyways, but they won't do it on our old trucks, lol, unless you have a friend. Mine was idling high, ended up being the TPS.
