I noticed this weekend that my bed looks twisted. It is higher at the right rear corner. It looks fairly level looking at it up against the back of the cab. Is my frame twisted or what else could cause this?
I looked at your pictures from your other post and didn't notice anything unusual (for these old beasts anyway).
Tell me, is it twisted or does it seem to look a little "swayback?" (I tend to be both from time to time - tee hee).
I'm not convinced it's your frame because there are other mounting hardware that have the tendancy to degrade on our trucks that causes this.
Swayback is a common occurance withthe early F-100s and I think it has to do more with cab mounts than the frame. But I have heard about bent frames from overloading the bed.
Can you take a picture and post it to show folks what it is you have noticed?
When I first got my truck I thought the bed was twisted also, then some one rear ended me and bent the frame, I took it to a frame shop and the guy straightened it out and the bed was even, so it's possible. I've since changed frames.
i had the same problem, when i re-did my frame i squared it off, levelled it and the drivers side rear frame was bent down, ended up having to relieve cutting the frame and re-weld it once it was level (tried to straighten it but frame was twisting)
Perhaps there is some tweak in your frame as others suggest. You'll need to take it all apart to tell.
The bed can be shimmed at the attach bolts to level the bed pretty easily without taking it all apart until/if you want to investigate further. I just used extra washers. It looks like the left rear two bolts would need shims.
