Stuck Throttle

Hello All,I have a '79 F150 4x4 351 M400 4 speed. I noticed recently that the throttle felt stiff, but didn't think too much about it until it stuck fully depressed. The linkage in the engine bay is free, and the linkage in the cab is free- I can't really access where the linkage comes thru the firewall- anyone else have experience with this?Thanks,Chief

Is the throttle stuck on the carb? Pop the linkage off at the carb and see if you can open the butterflys manually. If not try some carb/choke cleaner.

Nope- the carb is free, as is the cable and inkage. It almost feels too free, as if it was disconnected, but it disappears behind the engine block.Chief

Just saw your post no. Welcome to FTE.

Is you linkage a cable or rods? I don't recall cables being oem.

The truck was originally a 300 six, converted by a Ford dealer to the V8 long before I got it 10 years ago. It all appears to be a stock linkage- there is an arm that is postioned behind the block that at its top has a short braided wire that connects to the carb linkage. This all has free movement. It seems to me the problem lies where the linkage passes thru the firewall, but I have no visual access.Chief

Hhmmm. Never had this problem my self so i guess I'd have to see it. Hopefully someone else will be around shortly for ya. Check out the rest of the forums if you haven't already.
