I have a 2006 350 King ranch with a 6L diesel. When I'm making a left turn, the steering wheel locks up on the way back.It locks as if there is no power steering, If I continue pulling on the steering wheel it will aventurally release or if I jerk the steering back to the left it will instantly release. This problem only occurs when turning left and doesn't do it all the time. I've bought it to 2 garages and they expieced the problem but no solutions. When my 3 year old is with me I'm very nerves about this issue because this problem has occured during a fish tail experience. Any suggestion/solutions would be highly appriciated.
Can you drive with this removed because the problem is not all the time. Sometimes I can go for 4 or 5 days without any trouble. sometimes I get the problem 3 left turns in a row.
yea u should be fine... it basicly helps calm the steerin down. esp if u run oversize tires..
u will prolly feel some steering wheel shimmy while its off, but unless ur truck is lifted with huge tires, having no steering stabilizer isnt unheard of..
mind u, having one is always a good idea..
hope it helps.. if it does infact turn out to be the problem go with a aftermarket brand replacement.. dont buy a wimpy little OEM version again...
any of the major aftermarket suspension companies sell quality versions that are up to the task either in single or even dual units if needed...
i wish i had a digi cam, i could show u how my current steering stab. looks. cuz i know my factory steering stab. is toast.. its got a huge oil seepage stain along teh leading 1/3 end of the shock body, and my steering sometimes feels "tight".. i just havent gotten off my lazy azz to buy a replacement. its been to cold outside to swap a new one in aswell. haahaha
