On the main dash harness just above or to the rear of truck as oriented in the harness you will find a major Y in the taping of the harness which leads to the light switch. Just fwd of this as oriented in the harness there will be a 2nd major Y which goes to the ignition switch...just towards the firewall past the Y for the light switch there will be 2 single wires, one male, one female...the female is a brown and the male is a red w/blue tracer. These two are lil short suckers that are in every harness...made for easier assembly...there is a short sub harness which plugs into these 2...its about a foot or so long...both are red with blue tracers...both same gauge of wire, both have a basic blade type plug in connector on the neutral safety switch...
It doesnt matter which way you plug it in on the switch as the red and blue wire from the main harness goes to the rubber plug in on back of the ignition switch...the brown wire...after an hour + of digging and cleaning on my extra harness here...it goes to the main bulkhead disconnect on the interior side. Here it joins up with another brown wire which in turn goes back to the light switch. Once you are under the hood...this terminal remains brown in color and goes to the rear lights...strange I know, but thats how the physical harness is in front of me and so is my wiring diagrams...

In short...the switch has these 2 plugs...and thats all there is to it...but the lil subharness is an easy thing to make...just need a male and female plug like is common on many Ford products of the era...

I hope this helps...

I haven't seen these connections on any schematic. I'll have to dig through my harness to find the dash side of it.

Just rebuilt the fuse box connections with NOS fuse clips. Found a replacement engine harness, but near the firewall connection it has another plug attached. ???

check my gallery...I just uploaded a pic showing a second extra harness showing exactly where the pigtails are for the neutral safety switch...Im of the assumption these would most likely be plugged into each other on manual trans. trucks...
The factory diagrams only show one of the pigtails...took me FOREVER to find it too...
