Stock single exhaust vs headers
I am rebuilding a '50 f1 with a 255 c.i. V-8 with 0.125 over bore. The stock exhaust manifolds didn't come with the truck when I purchased it. My posts for stock manifolds mostly got replies from people with passenger car manifolds that are not compatible so I just planned on buying headers. Now I have locally found stock truck manifolds so I have options. What are the pros and cons of stock exhaust versus headers? Thanks, Bergie.

Red's Headers are one of the few that clear the steering box properly, and sound great. I doubt they give much boost in HP or torque on a stock engine, but I'd bet you a header system and duals cost no more than a stock system. Why not???

I am going to use headers on my truck for many reasons, but headers have an inherent problem, they are noisy, the thin wall tubing doesn’t muffle the internal combustion noise, so it can be annoying if engine noise is an issue!
