Smile nos on a future build.

I posted on an incorrect forum but now that I am on this one lets start.
First this build will be most likely in 2010 so we have time, I have a lot of frame work and body work to do before I get here. OK the plant will be a 460 and I was thinking of 450 to 500 hp, plus nos of 1 to 200 shot. I do not wish to build it two or three times so I thought I should ask those who know just what I need from the get go. I will enjoy the reading and ideas. thank you JNT

I would start saving for a crate engine from FRPP,that way you`ll have a warranty and for the $ you can`t go wrong.I just spent 4,000 on a FE build and all I have is the block, crank, rods,pistons,rings/bearings,machine work and ballancing. You`ll get more for your hard earned money if you go w/crate motor

Crate motors are def a viable option, FRPP has a nice package on these BB's, but I have built a stock 460 bottom(stock crank, rods, with forged pistons@10.5:1), super crobra jet heads, 1050 dominator carb, and sprayed it 300 in a mud truck I had. Never had the first problem with it. I would have loved to have put it in a small chasis and taken it to a strip, I bet it woulda went 9's in the 1/4 no problem. Long story short, a big block can handle a lot of juice as long as the tune is good, I ran that truck with no problems every weekend, and sometimes on the street, for 3 years with no problems other than replacing plugs. I had no more than 4000 total in my old 460, including heads!!!!!!!

need to make sure the warranty is good if your going to be running nitrous on it. I built a 460 ford big block for my jet boat and had my machine shop assemble the bottom end and i built the rest. I think i had about $2500 into it when i was done and that included comp cam and lifters.

not trying to tell you what to do but if you mechanically incline this is another option for you and you'll save some money. There are a ton of books out there that can help you with the build! Good luck

FYI- for Crate engines, check out gofastparts.com
Although the website isn't the best, they are located in Redlands Calif, carry just about every crate engine avail and have yet to send any to them who we not happy with the price (they even beet most dealers) and service
