Removing dash- 2007

Getting ready to install the PIE box for my Sirius tomorrow. The instructions say to "Unsnap and remove the entire dash panel surrounding the climate controls and radio" (I need to remove the radio to plug into the connector).

I'm a bit nervous about ripping the dash open- anyone been there/done that and have some tips? Don't even know where to start, other than it sounds like a good idea to disconnect the battery first...and hold off the beer until late in the project.

Go slow but use a steady pull when trying to get the dash off. Tilt the steering wheel all the way down, without starting the engine place the gear selector in First gear. Remove the small side panel on the drivers side, it's the defrost grill cover I think. Start pulling the dash out there, then across the steering wheel along the top and bottom till you get the whole dash loose. Then carefully disconnect all the connectors (lights, power pedals, info center buttone, etc, etc). Tilt the dash towards you as you pull it out away from the dash, just watch the edges and ensure all the plugs are disconnected.

After the first time it's easy. Just go slow, pull steady and DO NOT yank on it.

here ya go guys- the inside view of a 2007 dash. The install was really easy, once I had the courage to rip the dash apart (turned out fine). One component of the wiring directions wasn't correct; once I sorted that out it worked perfectly (don't use the indicated wire for Hot, use the Ford Red wire for 12+ w/the key on).

Was there any room back there to install some sound deadner or dampner?
