Hello

Been a long time. Sorry for my absence. A little update . I retired from the Air force 3 years ago, moved back home to Ohio, Built a house. I now work installing structued cabeling and phone systems. My good old 94 Areostar is my work truck for this job. Now has 171,000 miles on it, uses a little oil and I keep having to replace front end parts, but hay its 14 years old. The biggest problem I have now is the brakes shutter severly and the pasenger rear locks up. Any ideas?

With the front end shutter, I always think warped rotors. I've had that more than once.

You can also check to see if the rear drums are also warped.

The emer brake cable system is faulty. It can cause the rear brakes to be grabby and lock and shake when they get hot..I put 2 springs on the cable under the van where the emer cables tee to the frame..Don't remember i think number 66 spring at hardware store. Its in the 60's anyway pretty stout you have to shorten them..You also need to loosen the cable which is a pia. With a long screwdriver you lift the emer lever slightly and underneath all the way in to the back on the drivers side is a place if you push hard will release the cable. Keep the blade vertical..
I don't ever use emer brakes on any of my 96's Just a royal PIA.

Those of your who live in cold climates where road salt is used might also get rust in the parking brake cable segments severe enough to cause them to seize up. That happened to one of my cars in Detroit.

Same here...the previous owner got rid of the van because of it, and the fact it needed new tires(!)

If you tow a trailer, expect the front rotors to be an "every 2 year" expense.
