Door latch adjustment issues

I have a 03 Expedition that has always (since i have had it) made alot of noise around the door seals especially when the wind is blowing outside. The doors dont "pop" when you open them from the inside either. I tried to adjust the left side doors but I could only get the latch to move back maybe 1/32 of an inch on both. I was a bit afraid to loosen them too much and end up taking off a door panel to retrieve the pieces I was also a bit reluctant to start pounding on them until I had gotten some good advice from you in the know in this site!!

Thanks for your help

Loosen then more, the latch plate moves a lot more than 1/32 of an inch. If you want to know how long the bolt is so that you don't drop the backing plate, only loosen one bolt and see how far it comes out. They can get stuck in place, so you might have to give it a little tap to break it loose.

Close the door without latching it to see if the door lines up with the body. If it appears to be lower at the back than the body the problem may be in the door hinges. Could either be worn hinges or if the truck has been in an accident in need of adjusting. If the problem is with the hinges adjusting the latch won't correct the problem.
