Check engine light P0401
I have a 2000 ranger with the V6 motor.I have checked previous postings on this fault and done some checking.I have back probed the two outer pins of the DPFE sensor with the ignition on and vacuum applied to the larger of the two vacuum pipes, the reading that I get is approx 4.65 volts. The 5volt supply is good.I thought that this reading should be approx 1volt if ok,and approx .1 if bad??If the vacuum is changed, the voltage reading does not change. When the vehicle is running and vacuum is applied to the EGR valve it runs like crap,so I presume that the ports are ok.The vacuum lines are all ok and not blocked to the control valve at the rear of the engine, the vacuum supply to the control valve is ok as well.Would you say that the DPFE sensor IS faulty after all???
Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Thanks
Robbo
A common problem is that it's diaphragm leaks & causes a weak control vacuum to the EGR valve, which can result in little or no EGR feedback.
Let us know what you find.
Is for the DPFE I know the ones in the Focus of that year are cr@p.
Spoke with a Ford tech years ago and he said a spare DPFE should have come in the glove box of every new Focus.
