Hey fellas, I live in the "great" liberal, super restrictive state of New Jersey. My concern is how to beat the DMV with their upsurd limitations on vehicles. I have a 2006 f-350 6.0 with a turbo back silver line kit, tinted front windows, a 4.5 inch lift soon with 35's plus other mods. I know for a fact they're gonna bust my chops about the listed items for sure but what do i do make it stock run it through for a good sticker then put it back to cool again? Ideally i could, but now i have to do it every two years (crap). If any you guys figured out a way to beat these jerks who only want us driving by the book fuel sipping suck mobiles---honda's,toyota's,nissan's--etc.. Please let me know. oh yea and i've checked into registering over 10,000 GVW but seems like i'm beat there too. Thanks for any info guys.
I had not idea it was that bad, never heard of anyone having a problem here in Colorado. I didn't even know that needed to know what you did to your truck.
I have tinted windows in mississippi that are not legal by the state standards which i dont understand because you can see all the way through my truck. Bought it off used lot like this, was told i could get inspection sticker. NOT>>> Was told by the fella doing inspection either pull tint or go get medical release for wifes vision. Went to optometrist and he wrote her a prescription that said she needs tint. Was no problem tax assesor wrote me a med release for my tint and inspection station could not even test windows then. I would say check your laws i spent a night reading laws for state before this and it worked for me.
Thanks guys i almost moved to San Antonio about two years ago but the girl was the problem there otherwise i wouldn't be in this predicament. I appreciate your responses. I thought about registering it in PA cause it's a whole different country there (the way it should be in this crap state). I'll try to figure something out. It might come down to slippin someone a few extra bucks. I can't understand why something like tinted windows are illegal in jersey but i can drive 30 minutes west to PA and they're ok. Kinda like i don't get brake clean will cause cancer only in california so says the can, what about the rest of the states. Who knows but it's my truck so until the state pays it off or waves my registration fees i'll do what i want with it. My names on the title not New Jersey.
Come to Texas where most people own a Superduty that's jacked up atleast 4inches. Best part is, we don't get any flak for it being loud or huge.
We'll welcome you with open arms, a case of beer, and some damn good bbq....
I'm on my way....
Where in jersey you at..? I'm in ocean county and i see a lot of trucks with
lifts, stacks, custom trucks.....If you can't get it by insp try an independent
service station...
just get out of the NE in general. can't say i like it anywhere up here. PA is probably the only state i wouldn't mind TOO much. but still, people further south are much friendlier (no offense northern folk, not everybody's a jerk), and the gubmit's just tend to be less... invasive... and socialist!
sorry, i was never so adamant about it til i got displaced up here for the time being. especially now! i'll be griping til spring cos i don't like winter.
Because that's how they are. It's not run by the state anymore,it's been
privatized by an outside company..I have the same problem with my stock
95 f 350 that sits 23" off the ground. They measure from the ground to the body
look at each other measure again than go to their supervisor than after an 1/2 hour it goes through New Jersey Lift Laws
If you stay four inches or less you are ok on the lift law.
as far as the rest i would go private they are less of a pain in the *** in my experience in jersey. have it done with the front windows down. for the most part it should be the only thing they would fail you for and in that case take it off and spend a hundred to put it back. I have the same problem with my 06 but i am good to 5 of 10 so i would like to know how you make out. But there is no way i would try a state station the have no freegin clue
Remove the front tint and then try to go through. You can also find a private garage. some will overlook the tint some won't. As far as your exhaust do you have a cat if your truck requires one?
register it commercially, for over 10,000 lbs, and dont bother with inspection stations. my 88 has never been through a station., and as soon as the sticker on the 02 runs out, it is getting scraped off.
