Well... great idea, Tom! Just let me know when you're ready.
Problem with the label is that I'm a penny pincher and I already have a bunch of end-labels made up with my email address on them. Once they get used up, the web address will be added into the label as well. Since I'm still grunting the bugs out of my website, I'm not pushing its advertisment much at all.
Besides.. most folks want to show off thei own ideas, and not my cover name... I'll leave thjat for the end labels I put on them so they can have an easy reference.
Hmmmm... then again, I might just make a new one up for my own truck and have it on THAT cover, but I think the Admins would have a problem if I advertised my website in that kind of fashion, so I'll leave things peaceful as they are for now.
Pete's cover helped keep my 6637 filter clean in dusty Oklahoma. Went 25K on the last filter.....the filter cover got washed about 4 times during this period, caught alot of dirt that would have otherwise went into the filter element.
Pete, on those fuses, maybe you want to use some dielectric grease on those after cleaning it up. for instance, my jetskii's computer is covered in the stuff (comes like that from factory) just gobs of it, and no corrosion problems. I like to use it on my boat trailer lights, and everywhere now, not just spark-plug boots (electrical connectors under hood, scotch-locks (which i hate) grounds to chassis or trailer...).
Thanks for the suggestion, surveyguy... I've thought about that, but not sure if I want to do that for the fuse block that's in the cab, which is the one I'm working with. It's taken 7 years for it to get to where it is, and I can still see very clean spots where the contacts are landing on the fuse blades, so I think I'm actually ok with what I have, but am going to be cleaning it up anyway just to be sure.
IF you have the open 6637. Its well worth wild to get the cover just to help keep the filter clean plus it looks great. Also how many Trucks can pop the hood and show a Big filter and its Custom Covered?
Don't the Stage 1 & Stage 2 use the same filter, just have a different housing? I know he makes them to fit the stage 2 filters, and they fit well. I'm pretty sure they'll fit the Stage 1 as well. A quick visit to AFE's website will tell you for sure if it's the same filter.
The only difference will be, you'll need to tell him to put the logo on top where you can see it, instead of the side. As Barry mentioned, I know Pete will make one to fit it, if he doesn't have the template already. You may just need to send him some measurements.
Yes, I do both the Stage 1 and Stage 2 filter elements, and they are different from each other. The Stage 1's I've done are for the 6.0L, so I would need a few measurements of the 7.3L Stage 1 element to verify that it is either the same as that for the 6.0, or that I might need to tweak a pattrern somewhat, which is not too hard to do.
Just email me.
Thanks again, guys, for being so kind to help out with the advertising.
One more FYI, though, I'm on a short time alotment right now. This weekend, I have a handful of orders to take care of, and then at the same time get ready to be out of town from Monday morning until Friday afternoon of next week. Simultaneously, I have to R&R both the upper and lower ball joints on my wife's Excursion today (both sides, remove and clean the IAC, and if any time is left over then install a new starter that just arrived for my F250....
... that said, I will get to you. Just please be patient.
