Do two wheel drive have balljoints? I've heard of people replacing them, but they have 4x4 trucks. How about a sway bar? I get a popping in the passenger side front end every now and then and thought about ordering bushings if I have a swaybar.
When's the last time you greased the front steering assembly? Yes the 2wd have ball joints, do you know how to check them? It's better to find your problem before you just start buying parts. I haven't had to replace anything on my 2wd front end yet.
i would start by greasing your joints first. my 2wd i have replaced the front end. i would at the link from your steering to the drag like (the long link in your case)i think that mine is making noise to ???

I've just had it for 3 weeks and no I don't know how to check ball joints.
Grease everything up to make sure that's not the problem.
If you jack up the front of the truck (by the frame) so the front tire is off the ground, lay a 2 x 4 or something a few inches away from the tire, then place a long pry bar over the block of wood and under the tire so you have some leverage to pry up and down on the tire. Check for any play or looseness in the ball joints while someone pries on the bar. If you can see any slop in the ball joints, it's time for new ones.
