First bronco

I bought this bronco last weekend for $2000 bucks from the owner of the company my dad works for, it was there sons rig, he moved to Hawaii and left it for them to get rid of.They had everything in the the rig rebuilt or replaced to perfect working order for him in late 2005. There was over $6000 bucks in receipts in glovebox, every sensor, gasket, balljiont anything the shop told them was in issue they fix, I don't even want to start listing everything done to this rig. That does not include Rebuilt tranny, Liftkit, tires, gears, bumper, stereo. There's no rust or dents!

95XLT
5.8L, Rebuilt E4OD W/HD shiftkit
37" swampers radials (there bald, will be replaced soon)
Rancho liftkit 6" (I think it's 6" no receipts and parents didn't know)3"bodylift
Gears ?? (parent didn't know what was installed) It's
Big ugly HD front bumper ( I'll be replacing with a homemade or stock one)
Bushwacker fenderflare
Rockerpanels, flares, and front bumper Rino lined
PA loudspeaker with animal sounds!?!
Header, highflow cat, performance muffler

I plan on removing bodylift, and installing new 35" mud terrains, and installing a different front bumper.

I have plenty of experience working on rigs, I own a XJ that i cut the top off and built and welded my own cage, bumper, flares, basically everything on it. It has ARB big spline kit with chromoly axles and 4.88, Long arm kit, and rolls on 36" custom cut Swampers TSL, thats gets towed to the trails
The bronco will be the camping, hunting, and tow rig. I've never messed with bodylift kits, I was wondering what issues I'll have deal with upon removing it...Shorter bolts, transmission linkage, tranny linkage, is there anything else I need to know before I start tearing it apart??

Yes nice looking.

And the 2 grand price tag is fantastic.

I agree the bumper and body lift have to go, they are just a little too much and I can't see them adding to the performance of the truck.

GL, and post picks with your suggested mods, I'd like to see how it turns out.

Rick.

I agree with the removal of the body lift. I was thinking about putting one on mine, but just can't bring myself to do it. On another note, what are you planning on doing with that big ugly bumper? And I agree with the price. I just paid 1250 for my new one and I still have to do all the goodys to it.

Good looking rig you got there, and can't argue with the price. The body lift, yeah... gotta go. I could make a case for keeping the bumper if I had bought the Bronco with it already on it, since I've had a few close encounters with deer and cattle on the highways, but not my call.

Another thing I'd get rid of (if I owned the truck) would be the "4x4" decals on the rear quarter panels... to me they look almost like an afterthought. I figure if people can't tell that all four wheels can move a truck that looks like yours do, they don't need to be told its a 4x4. But, again, your call.

Hope to see pics when you get your mods done.

The Bumper is for sale on craigslist here in Oregon as of tonight for $300
My new bumper I'll make will be beefy enough to do damage to any object that get in the path of the bronco, It will just have a lot more clearance. I'll leave it on the rig until someone buys it, it's not top priority.

I'll remove those 4x4 stickers this weekend when i have some time.I never like them either.Hopefully the paint hasn't faded too much i really don't want to have to cut and buff the beast to get rid of any shadows they end up leaving behind.

For what it is worth...have you considered painting the bumper a different color to contrast or even match the color of your bronco? It would take the 'size' of what it appears and reduce it, for the 300 you might get, even if you get your asking $$ you will never be able to replace it for that!!! And there may come a time when you wish you had it, try taking the upper portion off and see if it appeals to you.

I already have the steel for the bumper and I don't charge myself too much to work on my own rig, and my fab bumper built by me for my jeeps have outlasted the jeeps they were mounted on.I will gain over a foot of clearance and will have brush guards that will actually protect the hood and lights without interfering with headlights beams.I use a portable winch so I only need receiver up front.I already have at least 4 buyers willing to pay $300 today, I really should have asked more for it, another 95 bronco owner has already made his bid . I will probably sell it to him .

you must live in the eugene area. i am over the hill in bend. nice looking bronco for sure. just an fyi Rancho never made a 6" lift for our trucks thats why there is a 3" body lift to help clear those tires. if you remove the body lift which i think is a great idea be prepared to do some fender triming to fit anything bigger then 35's. I would really try to figure out what gears are in that thing as well. this would dictate what tire to run. look at my sig/specs, the combo i have is great and runs well and tows my rv well.

check out FSB.com there are a few guys in your area that would help ya out when you need some and wheel often.

Thanks for the info. I looked up some lift on the net. when i first pick up the bronco and rancho lifts had the same control arms as the lift on my bronco (ladder style) and it has rancho shocks so i just assumed it was a rancho, but wasn't sure on the size. I definitely will be removing the bodylift and will be buying new 35s. As for the gears,it's got plenty of pep with 37s and the speedo only read 1-1.5 mph faster then is says.I drove around with my GPS for a day and it was that's what it said. I don't know if there are speedo gear or a different sensor or what but it read close to stock, so if i install 35s I should should have even better low end and the speedo will be off again. That doesn't bother me, more torque the better and I bet I'll still be able to cruz on the highway at 70 under 2000 rpm, right now it's around 1400 to 1500 at 70. we'll see.

from what your saying i bet you have 4.88's in there like i do. when at 65mph i am at 2200rpm with 35's.

when you change tire size there is a way to reprogram your PSOM for proper speedo. this is important to be accurate so your tranny knows when to shift and doesnt fry from imporper shift points.

Sounds like I have to some more research before I just slap on 35s,Thanks for the heads up. I don't want to distroy the tranny.I'll take it to the shop that did the rebuild on it in the first place and see what they say. Ilive in Tualatin the pictures of the jeep were taken in hillsboro, were I store the jeep on a 300 acre farm.

nice area. dont bother with the tranny shop. you can do all of these changes for free and some time on your part. there are just a few things you need to know about the tires you are running like revolutions/mile etc.. also read up on fordfuelinjection.com has more great information and things you can do on your own cheap.
